Accompanist - Chris Pulleyn

Christopher Pulleyn began accompanying at the age of 14, as the rehearsal pianist for the Bradford Player’s production of The Boyfriend. Since then, he has developed a reputation around Yorkshire as a sensitive and skilled accompanist, playing for choirs and soloists around the area, most notably for the Huddersfield Choral Society Junior Choirs, under the guidance of Susan Wilkinson.

Having studied Music A-Level, Chris made the decision to study his other passion, English Literature at the University of York before moving to Japan to teach English. During his two years in Yamagata, north of Tokyo, Chris continued to perform both as a soloist and accompanist for various Japanese ensembles and performers, and was fortunate to have the opportunity to study under a nationally celebrated accompanist and performer, Hiroko Ono.

Having returned to England only recently, Chris has quickly stepped back into a busy and varied musical career, taking on the role of accompanist for the recently launched Colne Valley Male Voice Boys Choir with Thom Meredith, and the Bradford Festival Choral Society, as well as performing in regular concerts with the Liverpool Italian Opera Society. He also enjoys performing as a cocktail pianist. Chris is delighted to have been offered the opportunity to play for the Holme Valley Singers, having recently moved to a new home in the area.
