Welcome to Holme Valley Singers
winner of two 1st's in
2010 Mrs Sunderland Festival !!
'Outstanding; an exceptional performance
both technically and artistically'
"A pleasing warm tone - lovely shape to the phrasing
a performance of distinction"
The Holme Valley Singers has been singing together for pleasure since 1975. The choir is held in high esteem in music circles in the area and is a respected participant in competitions. It has to its credit successes in the Sainsbury, Blackpool, Freckleton, Morecambe, Peterborough, North Wales Festivals and nearer to home, the Mrs Sunderland competition. The choir has also taken part in the BBC Daily Service and on an exchange visit to Belgium, enjoyed singing in Bruges Cathedral.
The choir has around 40 members and rehearses once a week at Holmfirth High School during school terms, on Tuesday evenings 7pm to 9pm. It is always interested in finding new members, particularly tenors, baritones and basses, and encourages anyone wishing to join to sing with them for a six week trial which will include a short voice range test. Commitment is more important to the choir than sight reading ability.
The choir wishes to thank Dr Andy Williams for his kind provision of rehearsal premises at Holmfirth High School.
